Villcart is a retail company that sells handicrafts, handlooms and cottage industry products made in the villages across India. Started in December 2010, we have online presence through our website www.villcart.com and a number of third party eccomerce portals. We have also set-up a test shop in Powai, Mumbai. We are currently sourcing products made in Maharashtra, Chhattisgarh, Gujarat, Karnataka, UP, AP, Pondicherry, Rajasthan and Jharkhand.
Vision: To enable village folks achieve sustainable livelihoods by providing marketing support for their produce.
Mission:
a) To provide quality handicrafts and environment friendly products to consumers at appropriate price through direct sourcing from villages
b) To sell products made in rural areas which have one or more of the following criteria:

Products: We sell Terracotta and ceramic pottery, handmade paper items, wooden, cane and bamboo items, wax items, metal craft products, marble items, khadi and handloom (silk and cotton) fabrics, etc Read more. Product categories include personal utility (bangles, ear rings, key chains, hair clips, vallet), stationery (diary, pen stand, visiting card holder, folders), kitchen items (vegetable and fruit basket, tea set, coffee mugs, trays), fabrics (khadi shirts, stoles, dupattas), home furnishing (curtains, cushion covers, bed sheets)
Product Source: We are sourcing our products from various artisans, manufacturers and NGOs. Most of these artisans and manufacturers are trained through KVIC and DIC institutions. The NGOs we deal with include Magan Sangrahalaya (Wardha), Dharamitra (Wardha), Sahaj (a fair-trade certified organization, Dahod), Gramodaya Sangh (Chandrapur), Sathi Samaj Sewi Sanstha (Bastar), etc.
Funding: Villcart has completed its test phase and is in the process of making the first store operatinally profitable. We plan to open more stores in Mumbai, Bangalore, Pune and Delhi in the next 2 years. We also plan to exapnd the reach of our website globally by shipping the products throughout the world.
